'Le Reduit' was lived in by the former governors of Mauritius and it was built by Pierre Félix Barthelemy David in July 1748. The old mansion is surrounded with an immense pretty garden of very beautiful flowers& exotic and native trees. The architecture as well as the garden have evolved following repairs due to weathering conditions brought on by cyclones and other extensive embellishment projects, initiated by various figures of the history of Mauritius.
