La Case

La case is a new publication by the group "La sentinelle", which is a major newspaper and magazine publisher in Mauritius. And am excited to say that at last and better late than never Mauritius has its first magazine dedicated entirely to interior design and decor. Of course, I subscribed and so far, so good. Little snippets... of a tropical flower composition, and other table decor, which I am inclined to try for the festive season ahead.

Simple Decorating Details for Entertaining

Greenery...

Corals and Seashells...
Loving these two simple decor ideas for dressing up a table, both requiring you to go out, either for a stroll on the beach or a walk in the garden. (1) Pick up a few leaves in some interesting shapes and sizes and place them in a vase filled with water (2) Collect a few corals and pile them in tall vases or a few seashells in order to dress up the chandelier.

LEGO brings brickwork& mosaic to a whole new level

Parisian designers Simon Pillard and Philippe Rosetti proved with their chromatic Munchausen Lego Kitchen, which is based around an Ikea island that has been outifftted with more than 20,000 Lego pieces. The entire process took the designers more than a week to complete! But, the results were well worth the effort, don't you think? Also, additional decor pieces have been incorporated by the designers.

Women don't run out of clothes, they run out of ideas.

And their wardrobe get choked up coz of lack of space, and organisation and surely coz of the emotional attachment to things resulting in not wanting to let go of any of that 80% they're not wearing. I don't know who I am kidding in talking "they" instead of "I".
So, which brings us to...

Walk-ins

with their Storage Units

&Space saving ideas

but which require space

Traditional closets

which are sadly, effective only if you're ready to purge the 80%

Designs for compact living

...which, hey, can be a great new addition to store the 80%.

And either two solutions, (1) I purge ruthlessly for the next few days, the needed time I estimate to work on the amount of things I have stacked and stylebakery has this guide (2) I start designing my own walk-in and go DIY on the fabrication and for this, I need all the help I can get!

New additions

A Pair of ethnic print& tie-dye cushion cover
And a disco ball worthy pewter cushion cover

I know, these sound so disparate! What was I thinking?well...I wasn't thinking, the bargain prices in both stores got to me first(Rs150 for the pair and Rs60 which makes a grand total of around $7, see?! lol). Figuring things out, the disco number is destined for another room and am keeping the ethnic prints for everyday use in my own bedroom. They do look good against my old burgundy leather chair. I will have to show you pics. It's been a constant make-over process causing.. chaos.
And am off for some more shopping this weekend and hey, do have a great halloween weekend everyone!

Coastal Style&Decor

Rad outdoor shower!

White+Wood

Pastel Colours...

Natural tones with a touch of orange...

Doing some research work on coastal style, decor, interior design. As usual, Coastal Living did not fail me. Sharing some of the pics I "borrowed". By the way, unrelated to this, ok not so unrelated, because what's a beach cottage without a porch or two, right? they have some great plans and renderings featured on the site. If you're planning a make-over, you should check it out, they have some great designs and of course great decor ideas, including outdoor furniture.

Resort Style

Constance

St Geran

Veranda

Tamassa

Le Meridien

Legends

Above two: La Plantation Below: Le Meridien

Beau Rivage

Royal Palm

Le Preskil

InterContinental

There are a few things common to all these beautiful resorts, elements to bring into your own home to add the exotic touch and incidentally bring Paradise a little closer to everyday life...So let's see
~Bring Nature inside, sprinkle flower petals in those areas where you have your relaxing moments
~Fruit Platters, which are anyway better than junk food snacks
~Ceiling Fan, handy if you live in warm regions, but essential decor item
~Teak, which is the perfect background for natural tones or lively patterns
~Wicker, much as the ceiling fan in fact, a must have
~Inspiration from the sea, whether with a magnificent view or coastal decor
And you're practically an islander. It's best to have a garden shower, an infinity pool, a spa and a a private beach, but we'll leave those to the five star resorts eh

Ron Mann's Hillside House, Sonoma Cali

Do you remember this post a while back? I was asked by a reader who's the artist behind the print featured in the bedroom. I did my homework, but while I can't give a straight answer to that, I visited Ron Mann Design's portfolio again and had to post these. Love the raw edge to this indoor/outdoor house. Enjoy!

I wanna go shop there

Look at that Rad yellow staircase right in the middle of the bookstore, Livraria Da Vila. It's genius right! Yeah downside point, you'll have to go all the way to Sao Paulo to get to shop from in there. Designed by Isay Weinfeld, with an enormous amount of titles, great design and a variety of comfortable reading spaces. The dramatic stairs, the secret-lab style entrance doors and wide open spaces are great details that really make the space special.

Another amazing retail space, Conde Lumiares Drugstore.
Design Team: Mobil M. Location: Alicante, Spain.

Spanish architecture firm Mobile M, has renovated the Conde Lumiares drugstore in Alicante, Spain, offering an innovative, non-traditional approach to pharmacy design while renovating the store. Architect in charge, Daniel Ferrer has removed the suspended ceiling of the old shop, lending an airy and spacious feel to the interior. Ferrer has raised the roof from two meters to around five meters. To fill in the void created by having a large space open, Mobile M installed 256 suspended cylinders, ranging from two to four meters in length. A second level to the drugstore has also been created for use as a laboratory, warehouse and employee training area. The exterior of the shop also received a makeover. The single piece shop window glass is five meters high, offering a view of the interior of the shop from outside.
