I love this

Hi, taking a small break from work, to show you this incredible helter-skelter. The staff at Sheffield are set for the ride of their lives by using a helter-skelter instead... of a lift! The fairground-style spiral tube will take just seven seconds to slide them from the third to the ground floor.
The white-knuckle exit has been fitted into Sheffield city centre’s futuristic Electric Works building, which sees its first office tenants move in on Monday. And the unusual feature – part of an indoor playground and “club area” – has already attracted a number of other companies to the hi-tech complex.Toby Hyam, managing director of Creative Space Company and co-designer of the helter-skelter, described it as a “statement about risk-taking"...

An event which I am still kicking myself for not attending!!>_< Pecha Kucha Night truly is a global celebration, and one of the latest additions is PKN Mauritius. Vol. 1 was held on Feb 4th, at Le Patio, under the aegis of city’s coordinator, Stephen Ng. There were 9 presenters, ranging from digital arts alumni to photographers. PKstyle is 20 slides each and 20 seconds per slide, making up 6minutes and 40 seconds of fame. In fact, Pecha Kucha Night, devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture), was conceived in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.
The 1st edition was a success, and had local press coverage. Stephen promises that PKN Mauritius Vol. 2 will be held sometime in April...(it's a rendez-vs!!).
Have you participated in a PKNight?

A Sweet Escape

A true blissful get-away, niched on the eastern coast of the Island...Welcome to The Residence

There's a quiet elegance to The Residence Hotel, with its villegiature architecture& scores of vintage homeware used as decor pieces

Life is sweet when all you can see is blue, water mirroring sky, and all you can hear is sea breeze...which is rather a sweet music to the ear

Interiors: Gossip Girl

Of course there is the fashion. But there's also the Eye candy from the set of our guilty pleasure, tv show Gossip Girl.I must say I completely fell in love with the Eames chair re-upholstered in a Missoni Fabric, the one in the fictional Home Office of Lily*sigh*

“The van der Woodsen apartment is composed of clean, simple lines, shapes and rhythms. But in keeping with Upper East Side tradition, it is still very formal in its presentation and layout.”-Loren Weeks(production designer)

By Amy Gartrell
Weeks used artwork from artists tied to the Art Production Fund organization, which is a non-profit devoted to exposing new audiences to contemporary art, to decorate the house.

Lilly’s work space at the base of the stairs is an eclectic mix of refined pieces (like her Louis-style desk) and avant-garde items (faux-cowhide rug). The Eames-style lounge chair with the Missoni fabric was one of many inspired moves by set decorator, Christina Tonkin.

The main living room, the kitchen, the dining room—they all flow together, but they’re defined by columns and a change in the floor material.
.:Loving the center piece:.

When it came to decorating Serena’s bedroom, Loren Weeks wanted the space to reflect the teen’s personality. “Her room shows a confident, eclectic mix of funky new and classic vintage items,” says Weeks, who decorated with bold patterns and metallic accents. “I wanted it to express her character: effortlessly beautiful and self-assured.” He has no problem mixing metals either—the room features gold, silver and bronze accents.

The bedding is a mix of Barbara Barry and L’Erba, in the Private Sanctuary pattern.
