Milan 08: Loveseat by London-based designer Jake Phipps has been put into production by Italian manufacturerRIVA1920
The double seat is made from solid cedar and can be used indoors or outside. This is such an oddity. Manages to look rustic and refined at the same time. Piece of Art and Furniture.

XoXo desire to inspire

I lurk on desire to inspire much much much too often, where I always find great posts, a mixture of your best lifestyle, decor and architecture magazines, with all the links to a vast number of sites you can dream of stumbling on, especially when you are out of inspiration. A great online scrapbooking blog but hey, beware of addiction:P

Lately:
Spectacular Swedish style with soaring ceilings, stark walls and subtle colors. Simple yet stunning.

Guerilla Boxing

Students Sabrina Meyer and Max Wittkopp from the TFH Architecture school in Berlin have designed an imaginary flagship shoe shop called Guerilla Boxing. The concept is for modular box-like stores fitted with drawers to diplay and cover the shoes as required.

Sabrina and Max suggest flexible modular boxes similar to an urban block grid as the shoes sold in their store are also for urban people. These boxes are composed of drawers which hide and at the same time literally uncover the shoes.Through manipulating their surfaces within a rough concrete-like case the guerilla boxes play with the perception of volume, body, surface and skin - just the same as a shoe does with a foot.

"Pique Assiette" is a folk art that can be traced in many different cultures over diverse time periods. PA typically involves the recycling of broken crockery, glass, pottery, china, jewelry, gemstones and assorted chotzke into decorative and functional art for the home and garden. An eclectic blending of color, form and texture that results in works as unique and varied as their creator.

A Mesmerizing Mosaic By Laura Winzeler

Artist Profile:

Thanks so much for your interest in my mosaics. Nothing means more to an artist than the knowledge that their creations are enjoyed and cherished. I live in a small town in the western North Carolina mountains with Leah, the insane Australian Cattle Dog, and our four benevolent feline rulers. I am privileged to spend my days dreaming in color and creating new mosaic pieces that delight me in their ever-evolving forms.

Until I discovered pique assiette I had no way to integrate my love of color into an art or craft form that inspired me and allowed me a fuller range of expression through my hands. (I was born with absolutely no ability to draw, sketch, paint, or even trace an object well, but with a lifelong obsession with color.) I find the unfolding of each piece to be an intriguing and mysterious process. Most often the pieces take on lives of their own and I feel as if I am providing the hands and eyes.

Each item is truly a one-of-a-kind creation. I cut and place each shard by hand, using all manner of vintage and contemporary china, porcelain, and pottery treasures. Durable sanded grout is used, along with water resistant glue and a top sealer. I love every part of the process. (Well, OK -- not so much the grouting!) Whatever it is that draws you to this colorful and dynamic craft form, I hope you will find joy and inspiration in my pique passion. I LOVE custom work so please feel free to contact me if you have ideas or questions about co-creating a very special treasure for your home or loved ones.

Varange Sur Morne, A Coeur Bois

Les Chalets en Champagne, not so much a complex of mountain cottages as a labour of love, so designed as to enhance the splendour of the surrounding tropical rainforest that plunges precipitously down the slopes of the Black River mountain range to the sea sparkling sapphire and diamond all the way to the horizon.

The architecture and design bestow an aura of warmth and romance to the chalets that is unrivalled. Perfect for a Romantic get-away... Ou une escapade en Nature pour se ressourcer

Situated at an altitude of 500m, on the border of the National Park, the Restaurant Varange sur Morne offers the Savoir-Faire and the diversity of Mauritian Cuisine. Originally a rustic gamekeeper’s lodge, the restaurant has been conceived as a large verandah, with a balcony view over the whole of the mountainous area, sweeping down to Baie du Cap, Le Morne and beyond.
