About the designer:

"I know that my quality of life is definitely dependent upon my surroundings. It's probably true for most people, but I am certainly more comfortable and happy when I am surrounded by the people, animals and things that I love. That thought goes into each piece that I make. I work very hard to design and produce unique, quality pieces that I hope my customers will be happy to use and have in their homes. My work is very much about the process, working with each piece from inception to completion. I live with each piece throughout that process (which sometimes lasts several weeks), though I know that the work ultimately doesn't belong to me. Each Whirl, bowl, cup or vase is created with the hope that it will enhance the surroundings of its new owner"

And Look!!
Wrapped in Japanese chiyogami (old-paper) in a pattern of falling maple leaves, this box looks fabulous. Great accessory for a fireplace mantle or coffee table. These premium wooden matches also provide added safety when lighting your favorite hurricane candle or outdoor torches. Makes a wonderful and unique gift, from gamiworks

The tangy smell of a juicy orange combined with spicy cinnamon, the perfect note to complete this story. Wishing you a very happy thanksgiving and many lovely things.

Little Things Work Wonders

It is one of the best things in the world of blogging, to wake up to the most amazing inspiring posts on interiors, art, photographs, fashion, crafts, trips and make-overs that happened during the week-end. It has rapidly become something I look forward to on Monday mornings, so to all the fabulous people behind the wonderful blogs a big thank you.
And I'd like to share some too; floating candles in an indoor mini fountain, a bold black backdrop for a hotel-villa, the coolest kitchen counter, inspiring double beds and a kitsch decor from TreeHugger.

P.S: Left Over Fabric
If you've been working on some sewing projects and have scraps lying around that you know you aren't going to use (or maybe it's fabric you've had forever that you can finally give up) or a shirt/skirt/sweater that you were going to donate, use it to wrap up a gift! Read the full article on AT.

Feeling dog tired? Need a cat nap?

"Hand-picked by The Animal Medical Center(AMC), William Peterson of Kohn Pederson Fox, Sandi Pei of Pei Partnerships Architects, and Bartholomew Voorsanger of Voorsanger Architects designed and built a luxury doghouse, birdhouse, and cat condo, respectively, for a charity auction event, each inspired by existing designs from around the world. Pederson’s doghouse, named “One Jackson,” is modeled after Greenwich Village condominium complex One Jackson Square; the birdhouse by Pei is based on pavilions in Tianfu Square in Chengdu, China; and Voorsanger’s muse for his cat condo, titled “Cats Cradle,” was a Harley Davidson motorcycle."

Design Pet Houses?Hmm, mixed feelings. But what great design works.

For your eyes only

A sneak peek at some party decor (Location: Hotels Movenpik, Le Paradis& Le Telfair)

...You can almost hear the Jazz playing live...
...Sarees used as elements of decor...

A far cry from the traditional Indian wedding, which is usually celebrated over four days with receptions at both the bride&groom's places. The home-cooked-the entire extended family gets to help-meals are too scrumptious to describe(veg. only because of the religious aspect of the ceremonies) and the decor is unique, exotic and along the lines of just what you see in Bollywood films. No plates, no forks, just a portion of banana leaf-from the banana tree indeed-and your hands.

...So Cheesy, but look at the lighting, simple but splendid isn't it?...

A set of wooden snack bowls perfect for your next hanging out at home night

Swooning for this battered wooden crate

It makes me think of the fun old family stories, back to 60's, when my dad(heading the operations i believe) and the other siblings used to smuggle into the family shop- situated right in the front of the humble abode of the clan- to steal sugary treats...including drinking coca-cola, crouched under the battered wooden counters or sitting proudly on the mountains of huge rice and sugar sacs relinquishing their success and enjoying themselves. Life was sweet, simple and uncomplicated...
